angeles en el ascensorThis was another one that lived as two lines in English for a few years before switching to Spanish brought it to life. It was inspired by a photo that a friend shared with me of her young daughter back stage at the ballet, one of a group of small dancers dressed as angels. They were crammed into a freight elevator and being delivered to their first ever performance on a very big stage at a very important show and the nervousness, excitement, and hope are all over their faces. It struck me as so ironic that they were there stuck in the elevator with such spirit and with wings that couldn’t take them anywhere. It seemed like the perfect analogy for being human… hopeful beings with wings, waiting for an opportunity to fly, stuck in an earthly box. -- Anna
