contra la fuerza This was a song that I originally wrote in English. It was a painful and lonely story of falling in love while at the same time understanding that the timing made giving into that love foolish.
For a long time, lines would pop into my head in Spanish telling the same story in the same melody, but I resisted thinking too much about it. One day, as I was walking home from work, the full refrain fell into my head in Spanish and I had to pay attention. I sat down that night and each verse basically translated itself. The lines do not present a one-for-one match, but the story is largely the same—except that the Spanish version got less lonely for some reason. I still don’t totally understand it, but I love to sing both versions—it’s like looking at your life on different days and your mood informs your interpretation. - Anna lyrics © Anna Hungerfield-Lynch |
